Attend this event to meet innovative companies using BIM technologies to change the nature of large, capital project delivery.

Glimpse of the Future events give you the chance to discover outstanding, innovative companies who are either new on the market or the primary driving force in their emerging new area. Meet the people behind the most interesting advances as they present case studies and give examples of how their solutions could save you time and money. During the breaks and over lunch you will have an opportunity to learn more, discuss and network with your peers.

The Glimpse format is ideal for people who are interested in innovation but time poor. If you believe in the importance of meeting face to face to flesh out requirements and learn from others, this event is for you.

Agenda

8:00 - Registration

9:00 - Paul Wilkinson, Extranet Evolution

Paul Wilkinson is a technology writer and blogger, covering construction-related developments in cloud computing, SaaS collaboration, BIM, data and mobile. He is deputy chair of the digital transformation panel at the Institution of Civil Engineers. Paul is also involved with COMIT, ThinkBIM, the UK BIM Alliance and Constructing Excellence. He is a past chair of the construction and property group of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations. His opening talk will set the scene for the morning's discussions.

9:15 - Paula Lain, Tridify

Learn how developers, architects and BIM engineers can speed up and automate BIM. Paula will explain how, using game engine workflow, errors are reduced and hours saved on projects.

9:30 - James Bowles, Freeform

Freeform provides 4D BIM delivery and implementation planning. The team are expert in the building of 4D models and advise on the best application of this technology. Learn how Freeform have helped major clients cut costs and identify substantial efficiency improvements through 4D modelling.

9:45 - Goli Ashouri, Sablono

The Sablono Platform for process and supply chain management has been implemented in major projects across the world. The software allows unprecedented ease of management. It works throughout the supply chain and across company borders. Learn how Greenwich Peninsula gained real-time insights into project delivery, implementing a central platform for management of all trades.

10:00 - Andy Hamer, Invicara

BIM is a great foundation for handover but, at the end of the day, just 3D models can’t address all of the owner’s information requirements. Learn how Invicara’s state of the art platform helped clients like Hensel Phelps streamline model data management and leverage that to deliver complete, reliable data for operations.

10:15 - Break

10:30 - Edward Carolan, OpenSpace

Construction project records are often problematic in retrospective project analysis. OpenSpace is a project management tool. It passively records progress on site through the use of a 360-degree camera. It is a single source of fact, using AI technology to position recorded information within the site location. It transforms video data into a Google-style map of the project to monitor progress and measure change by comparing the same space at different dates side-by-side.

10:45 - Andrew Norrie, 3DRepo

During this presentation we will look at the 3D Repo Digital Construction Platform and how it is being used to improve project BIM data management and reduce risk for construction professionals to help them create a better built environment. As well as an overview of the platform we will also look at how and where this is being applied on a number of high profile projects.

11:00 - Radu Gidei, Enstoa

This talk will focus on a new methodology Enstoa are developing for early-stage feasibility design. This innovative new tool allows you to upload site information and constraints, and generate thousands of suitable designs. You can then make decisions based on concise information. The result is the ability to make capital expenditure decisions based on provable data-sets.

11:15 - Dr David John Gibbs, Charlie Woodley, HKA

Dr Gibbs and Charlie Woodley will share the findings from research into the causes of claims and disputes on over $400B worth of assets. This includes insight into how the illusion of control is a root cause and how digitalisation can achieve dispute avoidance by proxy. Download their 'Crux' report to learn more.

11:30 - Break

11:45 - Shaun Farrell, Buro Happold

Shaun will cover the range of tools needed to carry out BIM but not as many see it. Rather than Building Information Modelling, he will talk about Better Information Management.

12:00 - Andrew Victory, Arcadis

As the Global BIM Lead (D&E) for Arcadis, Andrew is responsible for the strategy and delivery of the 100% BIM program being executed across the globe. BIM is a key aspect of digital transformation that aligns to the Arcadis three time horizons of today, tomorrow and the day after tomorrow.

12:15 - Stephen Crompton GroupBC

BIM + GIS = Competitive Insight - Connecting your projects and assets to BIM, GIS and IoT in a CDE environment opens up a new world of business insight and intelligence. In this illustrative talk, Stephen Crompton (CPO GroupBC) shows how project teams at Mackley, Thames Water and HS2 are benefitting from the power of location and connected data.

Glimpse Testimonials

Chris Needham, Director at CSN I attended the Glimpse Project Controls event that Phil organised for today (12 Feb 2019), this is the 2nd time I’ve been to one of these events and will definitely attend future events. A good turn out with a lot of interesting speakers, platforms and most importantly, stories. Would recommend to anyone who is interested in digital transformation processes and wanting to find service and software solutions that can help move your company away from siloed, non-collaborative ways of working to attend future events like this - there will likely be something for you.

Donnie MacNicol, Director at Team Animation Ltd, Delivery Advisor – “I had the pleasure of attending my first Glimpse event at the end of 2018 and found it highly informative, stimulating and rewarding. As I typically work with corporates on improving their delivery success, being introduced to such innovative and value add products and services increases the advice and guidance I can in turn pass on to my clients. I am also delighted that a company I am on the Advisory Board for will be presenting in early 2019”.

Andrew King, Senior Planning Manager at Morgan Sindall - "I attended one of Phil's "Glimpse into the Future of Project Controls" conference recently and of the eight supplier demonstrations I have found five that can help my business and I'm in the process of following up with each of them. Without Phil organising such events I may not have come into contact with these suppliers and missed a great opportunity."

Steve Postles, Project Controls Professional - "A very innovative and efficient format making great use of time with a number of "bite size" presentations and the opportunity to delve further into those of most interest in a pleasant, comfortable environment."

Katrin Enders, Head of Forensic Delay Analysis (Rail), Costain - "I thoroughly enjoyed the event as it combined insights into a variety of strategies to address the complex issues that are encountered during complex project delivery."

Nithya Venkatesan, MBA Candidate - "There were some very good speakers and there is always something to learn that I get from attending events. Very well organised event with top industry experts. Looking forward to more in the future."

Richard Wood, CEO, Safran Software Solutions - "I attended and presented at Phil's recent conference 'A Glimpse of the Future', which was very worthwhile. Phil did a great job getting a good mix of software suppliers and prospective users together, and it worked really well as both an educational/informative session and networking event. Time well spent."

Andy Candler, CEO, The Creative Engine - "Phil is really good at spotting opportunities and putting the right people together to create success. Call it whatever you want; sales, networking, common sense, but he has the skills in making sure that he is talking to the right people at the right time. I have had the pleasure of knowing Phil for over 20 years and his latest venture, ABSolutely with its unique Glimpse event format, provides us with insight and direction into markets we normally would not explore."

Adam Couch, Head of BIM at Optimise - I found the session a wholly worthwhile event to attend where Phil has been able to group together like-minded professionals in presenting their products in relation to the industry's rapid advancement in technology. Many of us are looking for solutions within our businesses that is not offered by the BIG software providers and here Phil provides the stage and the opportunity for the more open thinking innovators to share with a more collaborative audience that are able to pitch in with ideas and opinions.

Current practice in architectural and engineering design involves workflow methods that can have many stages and steps that challenge the efficacy and quality of the design and construction process. Unnecessary costs accrue through design collaboration delays and redesign or rework at any stage which challenges the business model of all participants.

Recent attention to attain BIM Level 3 methods aims to address the necessary process improvements and this day-long symposium looks at some case studies and examples. Also presented is the portfolio of software from Dassault Systemes which aims to address the workflow from concept through to fabrication and construction.

The symposium is of benefit to all architects, engineers, fabricators or contractors who are interested in seeing other ways to improve what they do.

Following the symposium, there is a two and a half day free training session on two CATIA architectural design roles: the 3D Generative Innovator and the Concept Building Designer, with a focus on the following CATIA applications: xGenerative Designer, Imagine and Shape, Building Space Planning and Building Structures.

BILT is an annual event, run in multiple regions around the globe, designed to cater to the needs of those who design, build, operate and maintain our built environment. As a community of professionals, it is dedicated to improving the way industry works together.

As an educational and networking event, BILT provides a variety of opportunities to learn and share, to probe and challenge, to listen and to be heard. Our sessions focus on the use of best-in-class tools, processes and workflows, behaviours and leadership.

BILT Europe is more than a conference. It's a community of business leaders, thought leaders, innovators and implementers, that share the same passion and get together in a unique environment to share their expertise and to aid in the quest for a better, smarter industry, and a stronger, more sustainable built environment.
